Many eBook Readers have or not the Text-to-speech (TTS) feature, but clearly it is pre-installed in the eReader and can not be changed.

Heather Peretz‘s insight:

The feature rich Voice Dream Reader is not mentioned in the article but should be considered for the iPad, as it works with Bookshare as well as flies you may have on google drive or Dropbox. 

Another choice is Read to go.
